Overview
Sylph lets several people chip in to send a single asset to a single recipient, through one link. The asset can be a tokenized stock or a stablecoin.
While a pot is open, every contribution sits in the contract. The organiser never holds anyone's money.
Pot lifecycle
| Stage | What happens |
|---|---|
| Create | The organiser sets recipient, asset, goal, minimum and deadline. Nothing is charged here. |
| Contribute | Anyone with the link can pay in. Funds enter the contract and are not swapped yet. |
| Settle | Once the goal is met, or the deadline passes above the minimum, everything is swapped in one trade and delivered. |
| Refund | If the deadline passes below the minimum, each contributor withdraws their own deposit. |
Settlement is permissionless. Anyone can trigger it, so a pot is never held hostage by an absent organiser.
Why one swap at the end
Swapping each contribution as it arrives stacks up network fees and gives every person a different price. A single swap at the end is cheaper, and everyone effectively gets the same price.
Delivery modes
The mode is fixed when the pot is created and cannot be changed afterwards.
| Mode | For | How it arrives |
|---|---|---|
| Link | Someone you know | They open the link and claim |
| Direct | A public address you know | Sent automatically on settlement |
| Verified | Causes and public figures | Sent automatically to a verified address |
Link mode
The claim key is generated in the organiser's browser and lives in the fragment of the link, the part after the hash. Browsers never send that part to any server, so nobody stores it, Sylph included.
Whoever holds the link can claim. Treat it like an envelope of cash.
Direct mode
The organiser types the recipient address. Delivery cannot be reversed, so the address must be checked twice before the pot is created.
Verified mode
The address is picked from a list we verify against each organisation's own channels, which removes the risk of a mistyped address entirely.
Where the money sits
While a pot is open, funds are in the contract. There are exactly two ways out:
- Settlement - funds are swapped and sent to the recipient.
- Refund - each contributor withdraws exactly what they put in.
There is no third way. The contract has no owner withdrawal function, and you can confirm that yourself in the source.
Pots that are never settled
Settlement can be triggered by anyone, but if nobody does it the money must not be stuck. Seven days after the deadline, every contributor can withdraw their own deposit regardless of how much was raised.
Gifts that are never claimed
In link mode, if a gift goes unclaimed for 60 days, each contributor can reclaim their proportional share.
Fees
| Event | Fee |
|---|---|
| Creating a pot | None |
| Chipping in | None, beyond network fees |
| A pot that settles | 1% of the total raised |
| A pot that is refunded | None |

0x8841D07F8e97C7a01Ea13D565162fc1Cc86Ee400What you can check for yourself:
- There is no withdrawal function for the owner.
- The fee ceiling is fixed in code at 3% and cannot be exceeded.
- The owner can only manage asset lists, the verified list, the fee, and ownership itself.
Limits
- Tokenized stocks are issued by third parties. Sylph only moves them, it does not issue them.
- Tokenized stocks are not available to users in the United States.
- Holding a tokenized stock gives exposure to the share price, not share ownership or shareholder rights.
- The value of a gift moves with the market, including after it is received.
